Namal Rajapaksa has been appointed as the Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs. This is Namal Rajapaksa’s first Government Ministerial post. In the past he has interned on matters related to sports, especially cricket. He took oaths before President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa today. Mervyn Silva’s son Malaka Silva granted bail

Malaka Silva, son of former Minister Mervyn Silva, who was arrested last evening over allegations he threatened a businessman in Battaramulla, was granted bail today. The Kaduwela Magistrate released Malaka Silva on bail when he was presented in court today. The businessman, a resident of Battaramulla, who is involved in the export of fish products, had filed a complaint with the Thalangama Police stating that Malaka Silva had initially requested Rs. 100,000 from him. Court orders not to arrest Kurunegala Mayor

The Court of Appeal has ordered not to arrest the Kurunegala Mayor and four others until 24th of August. The Kurunegala Magistrate had earlier re-issued warrants against the Kurunegala Mayor and four others over the demolition of a historical building in Kurunegala in July.
