Thundershowers expected in some areas

The Department of Meteorology says there will be showers or thundershowers at several places in the Eastern and Southern sea areas over the next 24 hours.

It also said that a few showers can be expected in other sea areas around the island. Winds will be from South-westerly direction and speed will be 20-30 km/hr. The speed may increase up to 40 km/hr at times in the Gulf of Mannar sea area and sea area off South-Eastern coast.

Winds can be temporary strengthened (up to 70 km/hr) for a short period during thundershowers.

The General public have been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize the damages caused by lightning.

Meanwhile humidity levels in Colombo will be high over the next two days with a minimum of 70 percent and maximum of 90 percent.

The temperature in Colombo is expected to be around 32 Degrees Celsius over the next 36 hours. The highest temperature is expected in the Anuradhapura district at 37 Degrees Celsius. ? (Colombo Gazette)
