The police have arrested a youth who sold a Rs 1540 ticket for the finals of the Twenty 20 cricket world cup for Rs. 14000, the police media unit said.
Police media spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said that the suspect was arrested in Wellawatte after information came to light about the transaction.
The police media spokesman said that the Colombo Crimes Division carried out the arrest yesterday just before the Twenty 20 final.
The Colombo Crimes Division is carrying out further investigations.
Tickets for the Twenty 20 final between Sri Lanka and the West Indies were sold out but black market sales took place on Facebook and near the stadium.
Several people had advertised online saying tickets were available for between Rs. 6000-15,000. (Colombo Gazette)
