Kuliyapitiya PS chairman arrested

The chairman of the Kuliyapitiya Pradeshiya Sabha (PS), Sampath Susantha, was arrested today over an incident which occurred on Friday.

According to the police media unit, the PS chairman was the main suspect over an attack on two houses in Kuliyapitiya on Friday night.

Following investigations the police had found that the Kuliyapitiya Pradeshiya Sabha chairman Sampath Susantha had been involved.

The police arrested him as well as six others today after they had surrendered to the Kuliyapitiya police over the incident.

All the suspects are to be produced in court.

Four soldiers injured in accidental grenade explosion

Four soldiers sustained injuries following an accidental grenade explosion in Trincomalee today. The grenade had exploded during a training exercise at the Air Force firing range in Morawewa in Trincomalee. The soldiers were admitted to hospital for treatment. (Colombo Gazette)
