Australia’s T20 World Cup squad will be the same outfit that takes on Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates later this month.
The squad, which was announced today in Perth, will head to Pakistan for three One-Day internationals and three T20 matches from August 25.
Australia is preparing to take a spin-heavy attack to Sri Lanka, the world cup hosted country, boasting Brad Hogg, Xavier Doherty and rookie Glenn Maxwell with Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Ben Hilfenhaus leading the quicks.
National selector John Inverarity said he believes the squad has flexibility and versatility.
“It’s a well-balanced side that will provide the captain, George Bailey, with plenty of options in both the batting line-up and bowling possibilities,” Inverarity said.
“The seam bowling has depth… Similarly there is depth in the spin bowling department with Brad Hogg, Xavier Doherty and also all-rounders Glenn Maxwell and David Hussey.
“Our squad will be well prepared and we look forward to them playing some outstanding cricket and acquitting themselves especially well.”
The T20 World Cup starts on September 18 and finishes up on October 7.
