ICC probes tape on Sri Lanka

The Anti Corruption and Security unit of the International Cricket Council (ICC) is investigating a taped conversation handed over to it by Sri Lanka Cricket.

A statement by the cricket board released late Sunday evening said that on Thursday 9th August Sri Lanka Cricket was made aware of an allegation of alleged corruption which centers on a taped conversation.

The short statement signed by the cricket board media manager Rajith Fernando said that a copy of the taped conversation had been given to a Sri Lankan newspaper.

A copy of the tape has now been handed over to an official of the ICC Anti Corruption and Security unit currently in the country covering the Sri Lanka Premier League.

Investigations are underway in coordination with the ICC, the statement said without providing further details on the contents of the tape. (Colombo Gazette)
