CMC member steals Mace

An opposition member of the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) had stolen the CMC Mace this morning, Colombo Mayor A.J.M Muzamil said.

The Mayor said he could not immediately identify the culprit but said that he ran away with the Mace during the CMC session.

He said that the police have now arrived at the scene and are investigating the incident.

UPDATE: The Mace was later found in the vehicle of a UPFA member by the police.

Muzamil said that the CMC is considering suspending the UPFA member from the council over the incident.

Former MP J. Sri Ranga arrested

Former Member of Parliament and President of the Sri Lanka Football Federation J. Sri Ranga has been arrested. He was arrested on a court order for allegedly attempting to coerce witnesses linked to a 2011 road accident in Vavuniya. Wanted criminal “Booru Muna” arrested

Ravindu Sanka de Silva alias ?Booru Muna?, who was wanted over multiple murders, has been arrested by the Police. The suspect, who was also linked to a shooting at a restaurant in Hanwella in December, was arrested in Avissawella.
