Police probe LLRC report

The police have begun investigations based on the recommendations of the Lessons Learned and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC).

Police spokesman Ajith Rohana told the Colombo Gazette that as part of the investigation a statement was recorded from the Bishop of Mannar Rayappu Joseph.

“He was not question as such. The CID needed to clarify a statement he made to the LLRC so they met him and clarified things,” the police spokesman said.

The LLRC has issued a set of recommendations together with its final report last December after it concluded its sittings and the police spokesman said that the police criminal investigations department was now acting on those recommendations.

When asked if the police will be recording statements from others as well on the report the police spokesman said that the police will be acting based on some of the recommendations of the LLRC.
