Six year old dies after stone assault

A six year old child who was assaulted by a woman using a stone within the premises of a school in Ella last week, died in hospital last night.
The police media unit said that the woman had been arrested following the assault last Friday while the child was admitted to the Badulla hospital.
The assault had taken place inside the Kithalanwatta Tamil Vidyalaya and the victim was identified as 6 year old Manoj Sivakumari, a resident of Kithalanwatta, Ella.
The woman who assaulted the child had been remanded when she was produced in court last week.
The child died last night while?receiving?treatment at the Badulla hospital for the injuries suffered from the assault.
According to the police the motive for the assault is still unknown. (Colombo Gazette)?
