Father remanded for affair with daughter

A man has been remanded by the Pollonaruwa magistrate for having an illicit affair with his underage daughter and sexually abusing her.

The police media unit said today that the suspect, a 53 year old man, had abused his daughter eight years ago when she was 15 years old.

According to a statement recorded from the girl she said that after her father had sexually abused her she had lived with him like a wife.

The suspect was arrested yesterday based on a police complaint and was produced in court.

The Pollonaruwa Magistrate subsequently remanded the suspect till next Friday.

Further investigations are underway.
