Rajitha blames Met. Department

Fisheries Minister Rajitha Senaratne today criticized the Department of Meteorology saying it had failed in its task to issue a weather warning last week. He said that the advice issued by the department last Friday was for fishermen and the navy to be cautious when going out at sea and not to avoid going to sea. Army Commander promoted to General

Army Commander Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya has been promoted to the rank of General by President Mahinda Rajapaksa. Jayasuriya now becomes Sri Lanka?s second four star General after former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka. Two killed in Kegalle accident

Two people were killed following an accident in Kegalle late last night, the police media unit said today. The police said that an SLTB bus crashed into a three-wheeler along the Kandy – Colombo main road. Both vehicles crashed head on injuring the three people in the three-wheeler. All three were admitted to the Kegalle hospital however the two people who were seated at the back of the three-wheeler succumbed to their injuries in hospital.
