UPFA member arrested over Kahawatte murder

A UPFA Pradeshiya Sabha member has been arrested over the Kahawatte double murder, police spokesman SP Ajith Rohana said.

The CID arrested the Pradeshiya Sabha member who had been absconding arrest following the murder of the mother and her daughter earlier this year.

The police had earlier arrested three other suspects over the incident which had created a storm following reports the police had given in to political pressure in the probe.

However the police had insisted it did not face any political pressure in the investigations.

The police spokesman said that the suspect will be produced in court over the incident.

China offers Sri Lanka debt moratorium

The Export-Import Bank of China has offered Sri Lanka a two-year moratorium on its debt and said it will support the country’s efforts to secure a $2.9 billion loan from the International Monetary Fund, according to a letter reviewed by Reuters. Foreign Employment Bureau contributes Rs.3 billion to Treasury

The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) has contributed a sum of Rs. 03 billion to the Treasury.
