Mahela Jayawardene was bought by the Delhi Daredevils for $ 1.4 mn, while his Sri Lankan teammate Muttiah Muralitharan was picked up by the Royal Challenges Bangalore for $ 2,20,000 in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction today.
The auction saw 144 players, including several former Kochi Tuskers Kerala players, go under the hammer. These players, picked according to a combination of their valuation and star worth, were put up for auction.
Other Sri Lankans sold today are Dinesh Chandimal to Rajasthan Royals for $50,000
The Rajasthan Royals said they purchased Chandimal as they feel he is very talented and is seen as the next Mahela or Kumar Sangakkara.
